Gas Anesthesia for Cats and Dogs in Dhaka

How gas anesthesia works

First, a gentle injection helps your pet relax and fall asleep. The vet then places a soft breathing tube in the windpipe, and your pet breathes oxygen mixed with the anesthetic gas for the whole procedure. Turning the gas up or down changes how deeply your pet sleeps within moments, and once it is switched off, your pet starts to wake up.

Benefits of gas anesthesia

• The vet can adjust the depth of anesthesia minute by minute, to match each stage of the surgery

• Pets usually wake up smoothly and quickly once the gas is turned off

• The breathing tube keeps the airway open and protected throughout the procedure

• Your pet breathes extra oxygen the whole time

• Very little of the gas is processed by the liver, which is gentler on pets with liver problems

• It can be kept going safely for longer procedures, for as long as the surgery needs

When gas anesthesia matters most

• Senior cats and dogs

• Pets with liver problems, or other health issues found in the pre-surgery check

• Flat-faced breeds such as Persian cats, Pugs and Shih Tzus, whose narrow airways benefit from a secure breathing tube

• Long or complex surgeries, such as orthopedic and tumor surgery

• Dental cleaning, where the breathing tube also stops water and debris from entering the airway

Why gas anesthesia costs BDT 12,000 extra

The fee covers the anesthesia machine, medical oxygen, the anesthetic gas itself, the breathing tube and circuit, and the extra time our team spends watching over your pet while it is in use. It is added to the surgery price shown on our price list.

Is anesthesia safe for my pet?

No anesthesia is completely free of risk, for pets or for people. Before any surgery, the vet examines your pet, may suggest blood tests, and explains the plan and the risks for your pet. Gas anesthesia gives the vet more control, which is why many vets prefer it for older pets and longer procedures.
