Cat and Dog Spay Surgery in Dhaka

Spaying is a routine surgery that spares a female cat or dog the stress of heat cycles and the strain of repeated pregnancies, and protects her from serious uterine and breast disease. Spay prices at Furmillion

• Cat spay: BDT 3,000 to 8,000

• Dog spay: BDT 5,000 to 8,000

• Gas (inhalation) anesthesia, optional: BDT 12,000 extra

• Pyometra surgery (infected uterus): cat BDT 5,000 to 8,000, dog BDT 6,000 to 10,000

• Consultation (resident vet): cat BDT 600, dog BDT 800

The final price depends on your pet's size, age and health. The vet will confirm it after the check-up.

Why spay your cat or dog

When to spay

Cornell University's vet college recommends spaying cats before the first heat, at around 3 to 6 months old. Adult cats and dogs can also be spayed once the vet confirms they are healthy enough for surgery.

After the surgery

• Keep your pet indoors, calm and away from jumping for about a week

• Stop your pet licking the wound with a cone or a surgical suit

• Give only the medicines the vet prescribes. Human painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen are harmful to pets

• Come back for the check-up the vet books for you

Most cats are back to normal within about two weeks.

How much does it cost to spay a cat in Bangladesh? At Furmillion, a cat spay costs BDT 3,000 to 8,000 depending on size, age and health.

What is gas anesthesia? Your pet breathes the anesthetic through a tube, so the vet can adjust it minute by minute during surgery. It is optional and costs BDT 12,000 extra.
